This is similar to IUCD - The Coil but has the following differences:

• it is a series of small copper rods that are put into the womb and fixed to the lining of the womb by a knotted thread
• suitable if previous coil(s) have fallen out
• must be put in during days 1-5 of the menstrual cycle
• requires referral to Glasgow for specialist insertion
